2026 Cold Hardy Cutting Gardening ~plant now for better spring flowers

In our growing zone we can plant lots of flowers in the fall to overwinter and bloom on taller and stronger stems in the spring. Let us do the hard work and purchase a tray of seedlings that are about 8-10 weeks old.

Trays must be picked up within this time frame: Monday the 20th of October thru Friday the 23rd. Please no special requests to pick up earlier or later than these dates. If you are out of town this week, plan for a friend or neighbor to pick them up for you. These are all cold hardy varieties that I have repeatedly and successfully overwintered for more than 12 years here in western NC. Occasionally, we have a have big cold snaps, this combined with dry weather can cause some of these plants to not make it through. It is best to check on your plants throughout the winter, particularly checking for moisture in your soil.

• Each Cutting Tray includes 50 plant starts of some of our favorite varieties of cold hardy cut flowers.

• Varieties may include: rudbeckia, nigella, larkspur, penny cress, buplereum, dianthus and more!

• Your plants will be hardened off, but still use care when planting, opting for a few mild days to tuck them in and water them well.
